On the occasion of April Street’s second solo exhibition The Lady of Shalott at Vielmetter Los Angeles, art historian William J. Simmons joins the artist for a discussion on the genesis of her new body of work and its mythical, poetic underpinnings. They will explore Street’s fascination with The Lady of Shalott’s rewrite by Alfred Lord Tennyson in 1842 and her references to the composite world landscapes of the Flemish Renaissance to create her three-dimensional paintings.
