Independent Art Fair 2025 | Booth 612

Vielmetter Los Angeles is excited to exhibit a two-person presentation of new works by Andrea Bowers and Shanna Waddell for the 2025 Independent Art Fair.

Both Los Angeles-based artists’ practices are founded on feminist principles and operate from a perspective that centralizes the female gaze. In this intergenerational pairing, the artists share an interest in exploring interrelated issues of feminism and the environment.

For Bowers, a feminist perspective has been central to her practice for over two decades. Her most recent work hone in on visualizing ecofeminism by connecting resistance to patriarchal violence and environmental destruction in her cardboard paintings and mixed-media works.

Waddell’s practice, primarily in painting and more recently in sculpture, is rooted in her imagined utopian artist commune Sheness Society where women tend to the land growing flowers, farming, and painting the natural world around them in peaceful co-existence in both painting and ceramics.
