Patrick Eugéne (b. 1984, Brooklyn, NY; lives and works in Atlanta, GA) is a Haitian American painter known for large-scale compositions that center figures which evoke a quiet contemplative stillness. His work bridges figuration and abstraction while maintaining a signature fluidity in line-making.

Recent solo exhibitions include Solitude (2024) at Mariane Ibrahim, Paris, and 50 lbs. (2023) at Mariane Ibrahim, Chicago. His work has been presented nationally and internationally at Blum & Poe, Los Angeles; MOCAA, Cape Town; Liljevalchs Konsthall, Stockholm; and the Metropolitan Museum of Manila among others.

Eugène has received numerous honors, including a 2025 New York City Council Citation for Artistic Excellence and recognition as a Creative 100 honoree by Qatar Airways × The Dean Collection. His work is held in the collections of the High Museum of Art, ATL; Mead Art Museum, Amherst; The Dean Collection, NY; LACMA, LA; and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, DC.

“As a son of Haitian immigrants, Eugène elaborates on the African diasporic connections between Haiti (the Caribbean) and continental North America. He shares, “My work explores human connection through a minimalist approach – using open, undefined spaces that invite viewers to engage without distraction or instruction.”

An enthusiast of abstract expressionist philosophies and forms, Patrick Eugène identifies a correlation between the freedom and experimentation of artistic movement and Jazz. Eugène studies the ways in which both forms convey mood and facilitate visceral responses. The musicality of his paintings engenders characters that feel nearly cinematic—alive and animated.
