Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects is pleased to present new sculptures by Jedediah Caesar. Caesar accumulates a variety of materials and debris from his studio which he pours into card board boxes and other containers that are then filled with clear or colored resin. The resulting resin blocks are then cut into different shapes which are related through the patterns revealing in their polished surfaces. From more organic geode shaped sculptures the work has recently transitioned into geometrical forms and shapes. On view will be several new floor sculptures which are cut into rectangular slabs or short brick-like shapes that can be stacked. The colors of these pieces range from white to raspberry pink to velvety black reflecting a kaleidoscopic arrangement of shapes and forms on their polished surfaces. Caesars sculptures live from the tension between inside and outside, between surface and content they make the familiar look exotic and give common debris the aura of jewelry.

Jedediah Caesar received his MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles. His work has been shown in solo exhibitions at Andrea Kreps Gallery, New York, and Black Dragon Society, Los Angeles. He is currently preparing a solo exhibition at the Blanton Museum of Art in Austin, Texas. Recent group exhibitions include Trace, Whitney Museum of American Art at Altria, New York; Ask the Dust, DAmelio Terras Gallery, New York; SculptureNouvelles formes, Galerie Nathalie Obadia, Paris; Sugartown, Elizabeth Dee Gallery, New York; Fearless Vampire Killers, Casey Kaplan 10-6, New York; Thing, Armand Hammer Museum and Cultural Center, Los Angeles, The 7th Annual Altoids Collection, Consolidated Works, Seattle; Blue Star Art Complex, San Antonio; New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; Luckman Center for Visual Arts, Los Angeles; Locust Projects, Miami; and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, Los Angeles. This is Jedediah Caesars first solo exhibition at the gallery.

Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects is located at 5795 West Washington Blvd in Culver City, between Fairfax and La Cienega. Gallery Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am – 6 pm and by appointment.
