Vielmetter Los Angeles is excited to exhibit a two-person presentation of new works by Andrea Bowers and Shanna Waddell at the Independent taking place at Spring Studios in Tribeca.

Both artist’s work is deeply rooted in feminist principles and centralizes a female gaze at its core. In this intergenerational pairing, the artists share an interest in exploring the interrelated nature of feminism and the environment.

Shanna Waddell’s practice, primarily in painting and more recently in sculpture, is situated in her imagined utopian artist commune “Sheness Society”, where women engage with and exist in nature in peaceful and poetic ways by tending to the land, growing flowers, farming, and painting the natural world around them.
